For Youth & Kids

SPC’s Kids’ Club is a great way for children ages 3-12 to get involved in the credit union at an early age. Kids’ Club members are invited to quarterly events, like A Morning at the Movies and a Day at the Pumpkin Patch, and are rewarded for their savings with ongoing incentives (yes, that means prizes!) when they visit one of our branches. What can your financial institution do for you? Well, scholarships, for one! SPC is proud to partner with the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation to offer scholarship opportunities to our members who are heading to college. Scholarships become available on October 1 and are open until February 1 each year. Recipients are notified in April. Basic eligibility requirements are posted below!

Eligibility Criteria:

• SPC Credit Union member in good standing
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Enrollment in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester at a post-secondary institution for the upcoming school year
• Completed application
• Supporting Documentation: Most recent high school or college transcript

One of our FAVORITE things to do is spread financial literacy in the community–particularly with our younger neighbors! We LOVE taking our show on the road to bring financial literacy workshops to our local schools, summer or after-school programs, nonprofits, and other groups! We can cater our workshops to any age group and any length of time–whether it’s a 1-hour introduction to coins and bills with little ones or a multi-day financial workshop series covering everything from car loans to retirement planning with teenagers! Our signature Reality Fairs are always a hit with the older crowds: Students are assigned a career, salary, and family size; then it’s up to them to visit all the stops of “Mad City” – ranging from the utilities department to the vacation rental office – before they do the math to determine if they’ve succeeded in successfully operating on a “Zero-Dollar Budget.” Don’t let the serious topic fool you; your students will have a blast figuring out all the ways to save or spend their money!
